Black and White

As much as I prefer to shoot landscapes in color, I must admit that the reduction to black and white can add a unique, graphic quality also to landscape photography. Some scenes naturally appear almost monochromatic and this impression can be heightened by a conversion to grayscales. In other situations colors can be distracting, countering the photographic vision behind an image. Below are examples for images that — in my view — benefit from a monochromatic portrayal.
