I have a unique fascination for the vast and wild landscapes of the northern latitudes, be it in Scandinavia, Scotland, Northern Germany, or Canada. Harsh weather with a chance of storms, heavy rain, and hail throughout the year, the long white nights around summer solstice, boreal forests and bogs, and wild coasts with cold waters lashed by winds and currents: all of this adds to the mystic character of the northern lands. And as adverse as the conditions can be, those that do not fear their exposure are rewarded by a taste of the sheer power and grandeur, but also remorselessness of nature that is hardly found somewhere else.
