I am both fascinated and humbled by the achievements of accomplished artists specializing in wildlife photography, which to me appears to be the photographical discipline most difficult to master. Due to the elusiveness of its subjects, it requires skill, perseverance, the willigness to endure hardship in the wild, and — quite frankly — a portion of luck to get the perfect shot. In contrast, my own approach to wildlife photography is driven by happenstance and I do not consider myself accomplished in that discipline by any standards. Nevertheless, I dare to present my favorite results below. In line with wildlife photography ethics, all images show free-ranging animals in their natural habitat, i.e. no tame or captive animals in confining environments.
